As if I need to remind you, the Astros have been outscored 33-5 in their last four games and 48-10 in their last six. That is the second-worst six-game stretch in team history, surpassed only by the May 2007 Stros. Yeah, this is as bad a baseball as you’ll likely ever see, and yet the Astros retain a 1.5 game lead in the AL West.
Tayler Scott was brought back to fix the bullpen last night, got bombed for five runs in one inning, and was DFA’d immediately after the game for the third time this year.
Now it’s Logan Van Wey’s turn for bullpen suck. Hopefully, with Brown on the mound, the Stros can keep the game close for the two or three remaining legit bullpen arms.
Chas McCormick had his second straight night of scoreless work out of the pen. He doesn’t throw a breaking ball, unless you call the work of gravity on a 50 MPH pitch “breaking.” I guess the batters have to guess between an 80 MPH changeup, a 70 MPH changeup, or a 50-60 MPH eephus. Keep Chompin the batters, Chas. Or better yet, let’s not need you pitching at all.
Here’s the Astros’ lineup.
