Michael Olise is out of this world.
And yes, I will never get tired of waxing lyrical about the footballing superstar. There isn’t a winger on the planet Bayern Munich would rather have right now. Olise glides on the pitch like a Rolls-Royce Phantom. He dishes out dimes like Nikola Jokić and has defenders on skates like prime Allen Iverson.
Coach Vincent Kompany must be a happy man.
When asked in the Champions League pregame press conference (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) whether “Michael Olise is already
one of the best players in the world,” Kompany responded emphatically.
“We see him every day, playing at the highest level in the Champions League. He will certainly be one of the best in the world one day; he’s on the right track. Everything he does is right. His level is already on par with the best players in Europe.”
High praise from a legend of the game and a coach who has produced the football equivalent of magic.
There is no doubt that Michael Olise will be in the world’s best player conversation for years to come. It is exhilarating to see Bayern’s coach share the same sentiment as millions of football fans around the world.
Kompany exercises caution with his statements, however: “But if I say he’s one of the best now, people will start saying how many Champions League titles he’s won. He has to keep going, just like he has for the past 18 months.”
This is absolutely true. At the moment, Olise has yet to bag a DFB Pokal trophy, and a Champions League trophy. A treble this season would go a long way to cementing his status as one of world football’s greatest wingers.
“If he continues like this, you can see what he’s capable of, considering how far he’s already come,” added Kompany.
Olise is right on track. The stars are aligning.
Will he complete club football this season?
