Looking for some inspiration, the Desert Dogs made wholesale changes in their starting lineup, leading to a game with no appearances from any of the 10 Dodgers on this team as they dropped a high-scoring affair against the Javelinas, 11-9.
Unfortunately for Glendale, this different lineup didn’t get a chance to make an impact before trailing big—their pitching staff allowed multiple runs in each of the first three innings, leading to a 6-0 deficit at the start of the fourth inning. Starter Briggs
McKenzie, in particular, dug them quite a hole and probably should’ve been pulled earlier than he did, responsible for allowing the Javelinas six first runs in the game.
With no Charles Davalan or Chase Harlan, the Desert Dogs attack still clawed its way back in the game. They managed to put 20 people on, with 14 hits and six walks—not to mention seeing their opponent commit all four errors in this game—but it was not enough with the pitching staff incapable of a shutdown inning.
