Game Summary:
NC State hit the floor with much more energy than yesterday and immediately took an 8-0 lead. The defense was energetic and forced 3TO early. Clearly Coach Wade’s message to the guards about
rebounding was heard, at the 12:00 timeout the guards had all 6 and finished the half with 9 of 16. BSU then recommitted to rebounding and went on a 12-0 run while the Wolfpack went cold for 6 minutes. The Pack then went on their own run and finished the half up 34-28. The Pack forced 10 steals in the first half and had 16 points off turnovers. Tre Holloman had 4 assists, Ven Lubin had 6 rebounds. 7 different players scored, with Darrion Williams leading with 7.
The pace picked up in the second half, both team’s offense improved. The Broncos went on an 11-0 run and had a 39-36 lead when Coach Wade called a timeout. After the timeout, the Pack retook the lead at 40-39. Boise State tied it at 42, and then the Wolfpack never trailed again. NC State won the rebounding in the second half by 5, the final with BSU leading 38-36. The Wolfpack had 3 more steals in the second half and 4 blocked shots. Steals and shooting percentage 50% / 43% / 78% were the big differences. Three starters (Copeland, Holloman and Williams) fouled out. Final score 81-70.
