Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hoops
After checking in at No. 28 in the KenPom rankings on Sunday, Mizzou Basketball received votes in the preseason AP Top 25 poll that was released yesterday. The Tigers
are nine spots outside the rankings slotted at No. 34.
Elsewhere in Andy Katz’s preseason Power 37 rankings — Mizzou comes in at No. 32.
32. Missouri: Love the pickups of Mark Mitchell (Duke) and Sebastian Mack (UCLA) to ensure Mizzou is an NCAA tournament team.
In the SEC preseason poll, Mizzou was picked to finish seventh in the league and Mark Mitchell was named to second team All-SEC.
Mizzou WBB was picked to finish 13th in the SEC preseason poll heading into Kellie Harper’s first season.

We’re big fans around here, so it’s always a treat when the new rankings come out ahead of the season. That day was Sunday, and Mizzou is sitting pretty in the Top 30.
Not a bad spot to be in for Mizzou Basketball.
A three-point loss to Alabama doesn’t have to ruin Missouri’s season and some players stepped up that at least gave the Tigers a chance to win.
Mizzou showed they can compete with Alabama, but this loss still stings.
On Saturday, the Tigers took on Alabama in a top-15 matchup, and SEC Nation returned to Columbia for the second time this season. The Crimson Tide ultimately came out on top and the Tigers moved to 5-1, earning their first loss. Here are the photos of the week!
Some great photos from Hannah despite Mizzou’s loss to the Crimson Tide.
My Results: Georgia Bulldogs — 14th in Conference, 6-12
Georgia comes to Mizzou on January 20th.
The Tigers earned their 17th commit to their rapidly-growing 2026 recruiting class in three star safety Carter Stewart.
Eli Drinkwitz and the staff are on a recruiting heater.
Mizzou missed out on its top target for the 2026 class in Jackson Cantwell, and Brysen Wessell isn’t exactly a ready-made replacement. However, Wessell’s commitment keeps the talent pipeline from mid-Missouri moving and provides the staff with a solid, talented local player that has some versatility in his game.
It’s always good for Mizzou Football to land some talented in-state guys.
The Tigers entered Monday with 16 commits in their 2026 recruiting class. That number’s up to 18 as Eli Drinkwitz secured back-to-back flip commitments from three star safety Carter Stewart and three star defensive back Brody Jones.
Not one, but two commitments on Monday from the Mizzou Football program — both flips from Big 12 schools.
- Over at Rock M+: Mizzou at Vanderbilt kick-off time on October 25th, and Mizzou flips three-star safety Carter Stewart from Utah & Brody Jones from Cincinnati.
Plus, more preseason basketball coverage — and 2026 Mizzou commits at the Norm Stewart Classic.
