Women’s Volleyball (12-4)
The women’s volleyball team swept both Northwestern and Washington to improve to 12-4 on the season. Penn State’s win over Washington was the team’s second against a ranked opponent. The Nittany Lions held the Huskies to just .113 hitting percentage, and Kennedy Martin rolled up a team-high 14 kills and four blocks. Gabrielle Nichols added 11 kills and three blocks. Penn State improved to No. 12 in the RPI, and the team has played the sixth-toughest schedule in the NCAA so far. This is a team that
should be in the running for a top-16 seed in the NCAA Tournament and home court advantage for the first two rounds.
After a four-game homestand, Penn State hits the road to face UCLA on Friday (10pm on Big Ten Plus) and USC on Saturday (7pm on BTN).
Women’s Hockey (3-3)
The women’s hockey team split with Syracuse in its first road series of the season. Penn State outshot Syracuse 44-18 in Game 1, but strong goaltending from Syracuse’s Ava Drabyk kept the Orange in the game and eventually allowed Syracuse to force overtime. Drabyk made 40 saves, and Jocelyn Fiala scored the game-winning goal to lift Syracuse to a 5-4 overtime win.
Penn State answered with a decisive 4-0 shutout win in Game 2. Nicole Hall scored twice, and Sofia Ismael and Mikah Keller added one goal each. Madison Campbell made 30 saves for Penn State for her fifth career shutout and first of the season.
Penn State returns home to face Lindenwood for games on Friday (2pm on Big Ten Plus) and Saturday (noon on Big Ten Plus).
Women’s Soccer (6-3-4)
The Pacific Northwest road trip produced a split for the women’s soccer team, defeating Oregon 1-0 but falling 1-0 to Washington. Low-event games have become a theme for the team this season, and a tight 1-0 win over Oregon was no different. Penn State did not record a single shot on goal in the match and held Oregon to just three. Penn State’s only goal of the match was scored as an own goal. Paige Pasinski’s shot hit the post and deflected into the net off of Oregon goaltender Gray Willson. Mackenzie Gress recorded her fourth shutout in conference play. The team could not make it a perfect road trip, as Washington shut out Penn State 1-0 while holding Penn State to a single shot on goal.
Penn State returns home for a game against Rutgers on Saturday (4pm on Big Ten Plus).
Field Hockey (8-4)
The field hockey team posted back-to-back shutouts in a 1-0 win over Michigan State and a 3-0 win over Kent State. Ella Gaitan scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat Michigan State 1-0. Gaitan, Olivia Marthins, and Chloe Dhage all scored in the 3-0 win over Kent State. The story of the weekend was the team’s defense, as the Nittany Lions did not allow a single shot on goal in either contest. The team appears to be rounding into form as they enter the heart of conference play.
Penn State returns home to face Ohio State on Friday (5pm on BTN) and Michigan on Sunday (noon on Big Ten Plus).
Men’s Soccer (2-7-1)
The men’s soccer team tied Michigan 0-0 in its only match of the weekend. Goaltender Daniel Peluffo-Wiese made three saves in net for Penn State. The Nittany Lions have now gone 12 consecutive conference games without a win, dating back to October 3, 2025. It has been a rough season for a program hoping to turn over a new leaf in its first year under head coach Rob Dow.
Penn State will face Northwestern on the road on Friday (7:30pm on Big Ten Plus) before returning home to face Rutgers on Tuesday (7pm on Big Ten Plus).
