Joan Laporta has offered an update on Barcelona’s plans to return to Camp Nou following confirmation their first home game of the season will now be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Barcelona’s next home game against Getafe is also expected to be played at the tiny stadium as the club’s plans to return to their famous old home continue to be delayed.
Laporta has now been quizzed on the situation by reporters while out and about performing duties on the National Day of Catalonia and said: “We will
return to stadium as soon as possible. We’re really looking forward to returning.”
The current situation is an embarrassing one for Laporta after the club released a video in June, featuring the president, confirming they would be back at Camp Nou on August 10th for the Gamper Trophy.
That date obviously slipped, so has the Valencia match, and fans are still no closer to knowing when Barca will play at Camp Nou again with three games of the new La Liga season already played.
