Mike McDaniel is headed to the Los Angeles Chargers to be their offensive coordinator. It’s hard to say if he was Robert Saleh’s first choice to be the Tennessee Titans’ OC, but he was my first choice.
He’s off the board now, so the show must move on.
Dianna Russini, who astutely pointed out last night that the Titans’ OC job is still open, said today that the Titans and Philadelphia Eagles are pushing hard to hire Brian Daboll as their OC.
Daboll is expected to interview for the Buffalo Bills head coaching job. Daboll was the OC in Buffalo before getting the head coaching job with the New York Giants. He had a lot of success there in his last two seasons with two top-three offenses. The Titans will have to at least wait until he is out of the running there.
I like the idea of Saleh bringing in an OC who has been a head coach before. That would allow Saleh to spend more time focused on all of the things that he needs to be focused on as a head coach and coaching the defense.
