The offensive line for Rutgers has some plenty of experience returning but also some question marks.
In training camp, as the quarterback battle progresses, the group up front begins to take shape as well.
This week, videos from Big Ten Network’s Dave Revsine surfaced where you get a glimpse on how the offensive line looks for Rutgers.
In one clip, the offensive line can be seen as follows:
- LT: Tyler Needham
- LG: Chris Vigna
- C: Terrance Salami
- RG: Kobe Asamoah
- RT: Moshood Giwa
The return of Needham and Asamoah gave Rutgers returning experience and leadership of a duo that can play at an All-Big
Ten level.
Needham moved to the left side of the line last year after the Scarlet Knights suffered multiple injuries. He ended up starting nine games at left tackle and one game at right rackle. In 2024, Needham started nine games at right tackle before suffering a knee injury. Needham has battled through injuries during his career as well. In 2023, he was slated to be the right tackle but a season-ending injury against Temple in Week 2 halted those plans.
Asamoah has been an anchor on the line, making all 25 starts at right guard over the last two years. In 2023 as a sophomore, Asamoah played in all 12 games at the position, making five starts. Asamoah also made three starts as a true freshman.
The offensive line for Rutgers was a weakness when Greg Schiano returned to Piscataway. It has turned into a strength of the team and a new quarterback will need the group up front to be strong once again.
