With the news that Jonathan Kuminga has signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, all the major dominos in this summer’s free agency period have fallen. That means, barring a trade, the Hawks’ core roster is locked in for 2026-27.
With the team surging to the 6-seed after going 19-5 down the stretch of last season (20-6 after the All-Star break),
the organization opted to retain flexibility and re-sign key free agents like CJ McCollum and Jock Landale to one-year contracts.
Add to the core of Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker the former Thunder duo Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins, and you have a roster full of potential — but also one lacking the talent to truly compete.
