TNA continues to push fresh faces up the roster. At Bound For Glory, five championships had new titleholders. The cream of the crop was Leon Slater dethroning Nic Nemeth in the main event. The question heading into Impact (Oct. 15, 2026) was what is next for Slater in the world title scene. The Hardys had an answer, and the result is Trey Miguel earning the shot for a PPV main event.
In honor of the Hardys’ 35th year in professional wrestling, TNA rewarded them with creative control to book this episode
of Impact. In the opening promo session, Slater expressed that he wants to be a fighting champion. The Hardys devised a plan to determine the #1 contender for Destination X. They handpicked five of their favorites wrestlers to compete in a ladder match.
Miguel was joined by Elijah, Ricky Sosa, Jason Hotch, and Moose. It was an all-babyface affair. That didn’t stop heels from meddling. The finish knocked wrestlers down one by one for a clean path to climb the ladder.
When Hotch had a chance to climb, Mustafa Ali ran in to interfere. Hotch and Ali brawled to the back. Down to four. Moose pulled Sosa off the ladder for a powerbomb outside onto another ladder. Down to three. Elijah leaped for a springboard guitar shot on Moose’s head. Down to two. Elijah was inches away from the contract, then Nic Nemeth ran in to shove the ladder over. Nemeth climbed the ladder as an unofficial participant. Miguel was on the spot to stop that nonsense with a Lightning Spiral. Down to one. Miguel had a clear coast to climb the ladder for victory.
TNA made the bout official. Slater defends the world championship against Miguel at Destination X on November 15 from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This is an interesting choice to elevate Miguel for the PPV main event, and I support it. Miguel has been in TNA for ten years working hard. It’s time to see if he has what it takes to be the world champion in TNA. I believe that Miguel does for this current roster. I’m not saying I’d pick Miguel to beat Slater, but I do think a strong showing over the next month would be beneficial to his future star power. At the least, Slater has a great opponent to steal the show on PPV.
