Danhausen has been dishing out the curses on fellow WWE superstars since his debut in February. Dominik Mysterio, The Miz, and Kit Wilson have all felt his wrath, as have streamer star iShowSpeed and EPSN commentator Stephen A. Smith.
In a video uploaded on Thursday (May 1), Danhausen set his sights on arguably his biggest target yet: Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson, or as the spooky wrestler calls him, Rock “The Dwayne” Johnson.
The threat was made during a chat Danhausen had with journalist Michael Fairman
during a WrestleMania 42 press event. In the clip Fairman shared on his YouTube channel on Thursday, he first asked Danhausen what would happen if someone placed a curse on him.
“Let me tell you, Danhausen can’t be cursed. He is the curse. But having said that, there is a very evil version of Danhausen that I like to call ‘The Curse of Danhausen.’ And if someone crosses Danhausen too much, he might come out,” the WWE star answered.
Fairman followed up by asking, “Who do you want to curse the most at WWE right now?”
“Does Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson count?” Danhausen replied.
“Sure,” Fairman answered.
“Him,” Danhausen said.
While the comment may seem like a throwaway line, it could be notable for the fact that Danhausen has brought up Johnson’s name multiple times since his arrival in WWE.
Last month, when Johnson announced on social media that he was receiving the Disney Legends Award, Danhausen responded by saying he would induct The Rock “into the Disney HOF [Hall of Fame] if you induct Danhausen into the WWE HOF.”
He also posted a photo on Instagram in front of an image of Johnson at TD Garden while recreating The Rock’s iconic raised eyebrow expression.
“Hello @therock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson,” he wrote in the caption.
Danhausen has even gone so far as to talking about getting physical with The People’s Champion. Earlier in March, he appeared on the Raw Recap podcast, where host Sam Roberts asked him what it would look like if he could pick a “dream opponent” from WWE 2K26 and turn a match from the video game into reality.
After naming Stone Cold Steve Austin (or “Cold Steve Austin” in Hausen speak), Danhausen called out Johnson.
“We’ve got Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson. I could beat him, I think,” he said. “Do the People’s Elbow, but we’ll curse him first. We’ll do the pose first, and then the elbow.”
While WWE has obviously not yet laid out a scenario in which we could see the two men face off, Danhausen seems like at least he’s trying to will a showdown to take place. Having them meet in the center of the ring — or even in a brief backstage segment — would make sense. The Rock remains one of the most undeniably recognizable faces of pro wresting in the world, while Danhausen has quickly become one of the most popular faces on the current roster.
The Rock could return for a funny moment with Danhausen, in which they enjoy a chuckle, similar to the interaction with John Cena at WrestleMania 42. Another possibility could be if Johnson wants to easily gain significant heel heat while in The Final Boss mode, he could lay out the ghoulish wrestler with a physical beatdown.
There is at least one old report to suggest The Rock might be open to working with Danhausen. In August 2025, veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Johnson was a fan of the then-AEW star. So, maybe it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that Johnson is eager to make something happen with Danhausen.
What do you think Cagesiders? Could we see Danhausen and The Dwayne square off? If so, how would you like to see the moment played out? Let us know in the comments.
