Real Madrid Castilla captain Manuel Angel is set to join Almeria, reports from Spain confirmed on Thursday.
Angel’s contract with Real Madrid expires in just under a year, meaning a departure was imminent for the Spanish midfielder.
The player will go to the second division of Spain for six million euros, while Real Madrid will retain 50% of his rights.
Angel, who made a few first-team appearances under Alvaro Arbeloa last season, turned 22 earlier this year, which is generally older than the average
age for Castilla players to pursue greener pastures.
He is talented enough to be in the first division of Spain, which is where he was expected to go in the first place, but Almeria will offer him good opportunities as a first-team player.
He will tentatively join former Castilla graduate Sergio Arribas at the club, although it is not yet confirmed whether the player will stick around with Almeria this season, with interest from Portugal looming.
