Everyone rightfully should be talking about how and if the Los Angeles Rams can handle Josh Allen, but another weapon on the Buffalo Bills is James Cook, can the Rams handle both Allen and Cook?
Cook is capable of leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns and rushing scores, he has that type of talent. That type of talent also can allow the running back to take over any game on any given Sunday, or for the Rams and Bills in Week 5, any given Monday.
The Rams will have their work cut out of them. The Bills
should too. One strength that the Bills have that Rams don’t is that Cook is about as explosive a back in the NFL as it comes.
Of course, the Rams have their own strong back in Kyren Williams, and though he may not be quite as explosive as Cook or others, he’s very productive.
So, Monday night’s matchup has the potential to be a lot of fun with a lot of star power. How each team can contain the other’s talent, could decide who comes out on top in Week 5.
Three Areas Bills Must Exploit vs. Rams on Monday Night Football (si.com)
“1. Bills must let their bell-cow RB ‘Cook’
In spite of all of the early publicity for quarterback Josh Allen and his impressive statistical start to the 2026 season, Bills’ veteran running back James Cook III—last year’s NFL rushing champion—is once again quietly near the top of the leader board for total rushing yards so far this fall.
Trailing only Kansas City’s Kenneth Walker (87 carries/537 yards) and Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson (85 carries/494) at this point of October, Cook (70 carries/421 yards) could easily be atop the list if he would just be given more opportunity.“

Bills vs Rams Prediction & Tips: Week 5 (squawka.com)
“Buffalo has scored 127 points, more than any team in the NFL. Our Bills vs Rams prediction covers Monday night, and it is a 1.15am BST alarm call for anyone in Britain.
The Buffalo Bills are 3-1 and average 5.05 yards a carry. The Los Angeles Rams are 2-2 and have conceded 582 passing yards, fewer than all but one team. They are without Myles Garrett.“
49ers should brace for Xavier Smith experience Rams fans know all too well (xaviersmith)
“Now San Francisco 49ers fans may be about to get a taste of the same. San Francisco signed Smith to the practice squad on Wednesday, desperate for any kind of punch on punt returns. It would be surprising if Smith remained off the active roster for long.
He should be an upgrade on the Niners’ current output: six returns for 25 yards. In fact, despite his maddening inconsistency, he’d be the Rams’ best option were he still with the team. Waiving Smith when Alex Bachman as his designated replacement never made much sense.
Still, San Fran fans beware. Smith is more tantalizing idea than a material needle-mover. Like a miniature Hot Wheels one of those build-a-ramp toy sets, Smith kept flying off the chute for the Rams, or else getting stuck somewhere in the spirals. “
3 kickers the Rams could sign today to compete for the starting job (ramblinfan)
“Well, here we go again: deja vu. Los Angeles Rams fans should already feel a premonition ofimminent upheaval on special teams. We had a similar feeling of dread early last season.
If you recall, that foreshadowed a complete midseason overhaul, including a change of special teams coordinators.
New Rams coordinator Bubba Ventrone knows the history and is scrambling to avoid a similar fate. He’s already pulled return specialist Xavier Smith, outright releasing him after citing inconsistent decisions and performance.
Unfortunately, that’s not the only area demanding attention.“
Injury Updates: ‘As long as they progress accordingly,’ Aaron Donald, Jaylen Watson and Colby Parkinson will be ‘ready to go’ for Week 5 against Bills, Sean McVay says (therams.com)
“WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – All three of defensive end Aaron Donald (back), cornerback Jaylen Watson (shoulder) and tight end Colby Parkinson (knee/shoulder) were inactive last Sunday against the Eagles. On Thursday, head coach Sean McVay said he expects them to all be ready to go for Week 5 against the Bills, barring any setbacks.
“The expectation is as long as they progress accordingly, then they’ll be ready to go,” McVay said on Thursday of Donald, Watson and Parkinson.
When asked if the plan is for the Rams to ramp up Donald, Watson and Parkinson in practice this week, McVay said “yep it is.”
Donald did not practice all of last week with back soreness, and he was designated as limited in practice on Thursday. McVay said “everything has been progressing in the right direction” with Donald.“
Sean McVay explains why Rams signed Pro Bowl LB Eric Kendricks (ramwire)
“During Thursday’s press conference, McVay explained the decision to sign Kendricks and talked about how he already displayed an impressive understanding of the defense in his first walkthrough.
“Just the depth overall and really, you’re talking about a guy that’s played a lot of meaningful football,” McVay said. “He’s been a great player in this league. I remember even just watching him for all the years where he was such a stud at Minnesota. Then I remember watching the Philly-San Fran game where he comes in and he’s elevated off the practice squad and was a significant factor in a huge playoff win for the Niners. It’s good to be able to have him. You can see even in just the walkthrough, the ownership and understanding of all things defense. I’ve heard nothing but great things, know him a little bit and glad that he’s a part of the group.”
Myles Garrett Injury Update Draws ‘Ron Burgundy’ Admission From Rams’ McVay (heavy.com)
“I know that the rehab is progressing well,” McVay said, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Gary Klein. “He’s looked good in the meetings. … I’ll find out so that I can have a little bit more of a specific answer for you guys. I feel like Ron Burgundy up here right now.”
The latest assessment continues a string of positive updates surrounding Garrett, who is nearing the end of his mandatory four-game absence on injured reserve.“
Identity-defining wins, Matthew Stafford’s pivotal leadership, reigning MVPs on Monday Night Football & more | Between the Horns (therams.com)
“On this episode of Between the Horns, J.B. Long, D’Marco Farr, and Maurice Jones-Drew reflect on the Los Angeles Rams’ comeback win in Philadelphia, break down quarterback Matthew Stafford’s performance, preview a talent-filled matchup in Week 5 vs. the Buffalo Bills, and more.”
The Rams showed signs of life, but the real test lies on Monday Night Football (sports.yahoo)
“The Rams provided a glimpse of their considerable potential Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, rallying for a victory that might ultimately be remembered as the moment their season turned around.
The offense rediscovered its swagger. The defense delivered when it absolutely had to. And a team dangerously close to losing control of its season demonstrated the resilience and urgency that had been missing far too often.“
Comment of the Day:
“We wouldn’t have this problem if we’d drafted for the future in 2025 and 2026 while realizing the “future is now.” I see we picked up a semblance of a LB and finally cut X-man. But, IF the Rams need to trade for OL, #3 WR, LB, CB and ST help, now’s the time. If any other team wanted them we could trade Fiske, Mump, Whit, Klare, McClendon, Stetson and some others without skipping a beat. Might get 1-2 decent players for these guys and some of our late round picks. Just sayin’.“ -SlowTightEnd
