After an emphatic win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, the Golden State Warriors are back in action tonight for their second back-to-back of the year. They’re hosting the LA Clippers at the very odd start time of 8:00 p.m. PT, and hoping that it goes better than Friday’s back end of a back-to-back.
The Warriors will have an advantage that they didn’t have Friday, as Al Horford returns. Horford isn’t going to be playing back-to-backs, so he rested on Friday and Monday, and returns to action
tonight as a weapon against Clippers center Ivica Zubac. It’s the healthiest the Warriors have been, though the Clippers are without a big name. Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)
Still no update on Melton, who continues to rehab his torn ACL as he nears the one year mark in his recovery. I’d guess he’ll start ramping up towards a return in the next few weeks.
Out — Alex Toohey (left knee injury recovery)
No update on Toohey, either, but don’t expect to see him anytime soon. Even if he’s healthy in the near future, he’s likely targeted for San Jose, as he’s on a two-way contract.
Clippers
Out — Bradley Beal (back soreness)
The Clippers’ big acquisition this offseason was Beal, whose massive contract was bought out by the Phoenix Suns in July. He was briefly linked to the Warriors, before inking a two-year, $11 million deal with the Clippers. Beal’s a three-time All-Star, but he’s been moving in the wrong direction for a few years, and his start to his LA tenure hasn’t gone well: he has 11 points through 40 minutes, and will miss his second straight game tonight.
Out — Jordan Miller (left hamstring strain)
Miller, a third-year wing out of Miami, is entering his third year in the league, and still trying to carve out a role. He’s yet to be active so far this year as he deals with a hamstring injury.
Out — Kobe Sanders (right knee sprain)
Sanders was the 50th pick in July’s draft, taken two spots ahead of Toohey and six spots in front of Will Richard. He’s played sparingly in two games so far, but won’t suit up for this one.
Enjoy the (late) action, everyone!
