According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is Bayern Munich’s “preferred candidate” for a summer transfer as the club seeks to bolster the left wing position.
Interestingly, Plettenberg is also reporting that Bayern Munich has already held talks with Gordon, but not with Newcastle United as of yet:
🚨💣 FC Bayern are seriously considering a move for Anthony #Gordon.
The 25 y/o is currently the preferred candidate for the left wing as
a back-up and competitor for Luis Díaz.
Gordon has been informed. Concrete talks have already taken place, though the clubs are not yet in contact. #NUFC want to keep him.

X account @iMiaSanMia captured more detail from Sky Germany’s larger report on this as well:
More on this: Bayern are looking for a ‘high class’ attacking player who can play not only on the left wing but can also cover several positions across the forward line. Anthony Gordon is the ‘absolute top candidate’, both as a backup and also a challenger for Luis Díaz.
There could be a substantial fee attached to Gordon, whose contract does not expire until 2030, so the viability of a move is somewhat in doubt. However, Bayern Munich is reportedly ready to spend as much €80 million total on the left wing and right back positions this summer.
The 25-year-old has 17 goals and five assists in 46 goals across all competition for the Magpies this season.
