There had been smoke around Jordan Ross for a couple of weeks surrounding the transfer portal and tonight it appears to be true. According to On3, Ross will enter the transfer portal and look for new opportunities on the open market.
The former 5-star edge prospect was set to be Tennessee’s top edge rusher next season. Tennessee has already lost Joshua Josephs to graduation and Caleb Herring to the transfer portal. Reserves Emmanuel Okoye and Kellen Lindstrom have also entered the transfer portal.
Tennessee is left with Christian Gass and a handful of incoming freshmen. New defensive coordinator Jim Knowles will now have plenty of space to build his edge roster from the ground up.
Ross didn’t put up big numbers this season playing in a rotation, but the athletic ability and upside was obvious. Stepping into a full time role in 2026 was likely something this staff was banking on, but now they’ll go back to the drawing board.
Tennessee has hosted Penn State edge rusher Chaz Coleman on a visit this week. They hosted Miami (OH) edge rusher Adam Trick today, but he has since committed to Texas Tech.
Expect to see a ton of new edge names receive interest from Tennessee over the next few days.
