Last week, before the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss that featured two missed field goals by kicker Harrison Butker, the Arrowhead Pride community voiced its frustration with the team’s long-time placekicker. 71% of voters in The Feed’s poll said that they viewed Butker as a problem.
The NFL Transactions Report recorded no visit from external options at kicker on Tuesday, but Jason Anderson of 810 Sports was “told the Chiefs have at least one kicker in town working out.” In the post on X, Anderson noted
a practice-squad signing had likelihood. If he’s correct, we’ll likely know by this afternoon.
Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reminded Chiefs Kingdom that another player on the team has placekicking experience in a Tuesday article.

The latest Kansas City Chiefs news
Kansas City Chiefs have in-house option to explore as Harrison Butker’s kicking issues intensify in Week 7 loss to Seahawks | A to Z Sports
So what can the Chiefs realistically do to ease Butker’s burden? For starters, they might want to lean more on the other player in the specialist room: starting punter Matt Araiza.
If you’re not familiar with his background, Araiza also kicked in college at San Diego State. He didn’t take over as a full-time punter until his final season, when he earned the nickname “Punt God.” Over three seasons, Araiza made 50-of-68 field goals, with a 53-yard long make. He was also 96-of-97 on extra points.
These five Chiefs flaws were exposed in Seattle. Here’s how solvable they are | The Kansas City Star
Jones, 32, did not tally a single quarterback pressure in Seattle. His pressure rate for the season is 7.3%, the lowest since Next Gen Stats began tracking that statistic in 2018. He is on pace for 45 pressures, if he plays a full season, which would be a considerable dip — he hasn’t finished with fewer than 58 pressures in a season since 2017. The Chiefs need more production from a player occupying the largest chunk of the salary cap on the team.
Can it be solved? The underlying data shows the Chiefs should be sacking the quarterback at a higher rate already, albeit still not near an elite rate. George Karlaftis, for example, is sixth in the NFL with 33 pressures, but he has recorded only one sack. All 15 players who have recorded at least 26 pressures have turned those into at least three sacks. Chase Young has five fewer pressures, and he has seven sacks this year.
Chiefs’ Trade Deadline Prediction Has Big Tyreek Hill Implications | Heavy Sports
“I do expect them [Kansas City] to be buyers at the trade deadline. They have targeted, it seems the past couple of years, a receiver. We know we’ve talked about who are they going to acquire. I would expect them to have conversations surrounding a receiver.” Rapoport reported on Tuesday on ESPN’s Big Day.
“We’ll see what kind. It’s. not like Justin Jefferson is out there. Tyreek Hill is not healthy enough, and there is obviously all the off the field stuff. I would expect them to target a receiver, we’ll see at what level. But [general manager] Brett Veach is always trying to invest and help, I think that’s where they go.”
Chiefs-Seahawks attracts 26.3 million viewers on Sunday night | Pro Football Talk
The game between the previously-unbeaten Chiefs and the defending Super Bowl champions peaked at 29.0 million viewers from 9:30 to 9:45 p.m. ET.
In 2013, Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis racked up 27.0 million viewers on Sunday Night Football.
Beyond being the biggest Week 7 Sunday night audience in 13 years, the Chiefs-Seahawks game generated the biggest viewership of any NBC game in 2026.
Seven things Solak thinks entering NFL Week 8: WR trade for Chiefs? Goff for MVP? | ESPN
2. Send a 2027 third-round pick and 2028 conditional fifth-round pick to the Cowboys for George Pickens.
The Cowboys have 2025 trade acquisition Pickens and 2026 trade acquisition Joey Porter Jr. playing on contract years, and it’s hard to imagine they extend both ex-Steelers at market rates. If Pickens would recoup a third-round compensatory pick in free agency, the Chiefs can sweeten the pot with a future pick conditional on production levels and give the Cowboys their third-round comp pick without having to manipulate the formula this offseason. How the Cowboys play in Weeks 8 and 9 (vs. Cardinals, at Colts) will have a big impact here.

Colts trade DT DeForest Buckner to 49ers for fourth-round pick | The Athletic
The 49ers selected Buckner with the No. 7 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he played four seasons in San Francisco before being traded to the Colts. Buckner starred in the 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2020, notching 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits. Since joining the Colts, he’s played in just one playoff game, a wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills in his first year with Indy.
He is owed almost $8 million for the rest of the season as he’s in the final year of a two-year, $46 million extension he signed in April 2024.

4. Kenneth Walker
Down 2 spotsI’m not going to completely overreact to one bad game and completely wipe out Walker’s previous five tilts from memory. Yes, Walker’s 14-rush, 36-yard output against Seattle probably kills his chances of reaching the heights needed to win the award. However, the totality of his work this season still puts him atop all RBs in yards per game (116.8) and yards per attempt (5.8). He also remains the missed tackles forced king (49). How he performs in Week 8 against a Denver squad he ripped for 173 yards and a score in Week 1 will tell if K9 clings to his spot or falls out.

Chiefs-Seahawks: 5 stats to know from Week 7 loss
The Chiefs ran a season-low 12 plays from under center
Kansas City ran it five times and passed it seven times to gain 51 yards from under center against the Seahawks. Coming into the game, the team had called at least 21 under-center plays in each game and run the ball at least 11 times.
The Chiefs totaled 100 fewer under-center yards than the second-lowest total this season (151 against the Colts).
