Due to the unfortunate cancellation of the 2026 Finalissima against Argentina, Spain played a friendly against Serbia at La Cerámica, the home of Villarreal, and won 3-0 in dominant fashion with six Barcelona stars playing a part on the night.
Luis de la Fuente started Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Lamine Yamal and Fermín López and brought
Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo off the bench in the second half, and all six Blaugrana players had a pretty good night. Cubarsí, Fermín and Ferran each recorded an assist as Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice and Víctor Muñoz found the net in the final period.
The best piece of news from a Barça perspective was that De La Fuente didn’t overextend his players: Pedri and Fermín both came off at halftime, Yamal played only an hour, and only Cubarsí went close to the distance as he was substituted with 10 minutes to go.
Spain could have easily scored five or six on the night and Olmo missed two big chances in the second half, and La Roja put on another excellent show to send the home crowd happy. Their next friendly is against Egypt at Cornellá on Tuesday, and goalkeeper Joan Garcia will be hoping to make the squad for that one.
