Less than 24 hours after the Kansas City Chiefs
announced the initial 53-man roster, the team is already shaking it up.With the No. 8 waiver wire priority, the Chiefs claimed two players available on waivers:
linebacker Jack Pyburn and defensive lineman Bryson Eason.
The team will need to waive two players in order to make room for Eason and Pyburn. Arrowhead Pride will update this post with more information by the end of the day, as the corresponding moves should be on the daily NFL Transactions Report.
Eason, an undrafted rookie from the University of Tennessee, attended the NFL Scouting Combine in March and measured in at 6 feet 2 inches tall and 323 pounds. His hands were measured at 10 inches and his arms were measured at 33 1/8 inches. He profiles as a backup nose tackle to Khyiris Tonga.
Pyburn also entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent this year, coming from LSU after a four-year collegiate career. Pyburn has recently been in the headlines for expressing an interest in returning to college football as he, along with other members of the 2022 high-school graduating class, was granted one more year of eligibility.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pyburn has made the decision to withdraw his claim to return to the NCAA. He will turn his attention to playing for the Chiefs.
Pyburn is listed as a linebacker, but projects to be a defensive end in Kansas City. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Pyburn weighed in at 262 pounds, standing nearly 6 feet 4 inches tall.
According to NFL Draft expert Dane Brugler of The Athletic, Pyburn “is stout versus the run and competes with a touch of insanity to him (in a good way).”
