We asked you, Indiana fans, to grade Darian DeVries’ first season as the Hoosiers’ head men’s basketball coach last week. Those results are in and the response was neither overwhelmingly positive or negative, but definitely skewed toward the latter.
Just 10% of those surveyed viewed DeVries’ first season as anything resembling a success at A or B, with just under half opting for the average of a C. The more negative half of the scale, D and F, outweighed A and B with a combined 45% of the responses.
It seems that the majority of fans don’t regard the 2025-26 season as a full-on failure but most view it in a negative light.
Indiana finished at 10th in the Big Ten, right where it was predicted to finish in the preseason and was among the first four teams to be left out of the NCAA Tournament, right where it was a year ago when the program parted ways with Mike Woodson. FanDuel Sportsbook gave the Hoosiers favorable odds to go dancing entering the final six games of the season and Indiana ended up winning just one of those games to fall out of contention.
DeVries needs a significantly stronger return in the transfer portal this go around as the Hoosiers face down another near total roster reload.
