After winning 20-15 at Iowa to move to 5-0 on the season, Indiana moved up to the No. 8 spot in the Week 6 poll. This is now the 18th straight week Indiana has been ranked.
The poll is worth checking out
in its entirety both for its effect on Indiana’s immediate schedule and for the sake of past Hoosier wins.
After the Hoosiers blew out Illinois, the Illini dropped 14 spots to No. 23 and were at risk of falling out of the polls. Yesterday’s one-score win over No. 21 USC moved them up a spot to No. 22, though, making that win look even better.
Meanwhile, Oregon’s overtime win at Penn State last night brought them up to the No. 2 spot. Barring any poll shenanigans that see the Hoosiers drop out of the top ten in the bye week, Indiana is likely looking at a top 10 matchup when it heads to Eugene on October 11th.
The loss only dropped Penn State to the seven spot, meaning Indiana could have another crack at a top ten team on the road when the hoosiers head to Happy Valley in early November.
