Newcastle United’s search for another full-back continues as the Magpies look to strengthen one of the thinnest areas of his squad before the Premier League season begins.
NUFC only has Tino Livramento on the right and Lewis Hall on the left side, making the addition of two full-backs or a versatile one one of the club’s top priorities for the remainder of the transfer market.
Against that backdrop, and according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle is among several Premier League clubs monitoring Norwich City defender
Kellen Fisher, although completing a deal could prove difficult because the Championship side has no intention of selling their man.
“Norwich City have made it clear they have no intention of selling Kellen Fisher this summer despite growing interest from the Premier League,” TEAMtalk wrote. “The England Under-21 international has emerged as one of the Championship’s most highly-rated young full-backs, with a number of top-flight clubs monitoring his progress ahead of a potential move.”
The report adds that Norwich head coach Philippe Clement has made his stance clear over the 22-year-old’s future.
“TEAMtalk understands new head coach Philippe Clement has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that Fisher is a central part of his plans as the Canaries target a promotion push this season,” the report says. “The Belgian has been impressed by Fisher since arriving at Carrow Road and sees him as one of the foundations of the squad he is looking to build.”
Fisher joined Norwich from Bromley in 2023 for a meager €120k and is under contract until 2028, with the club holding an option for an additional year. He made 47 appearances across all competitions last season, including 43 Championship matches, establishing himself as one of Norwich’s most dependable defenders but failing to provide any assists or score a goal.
Whether Fisher becomes a realistic option, however, may ultimately depend on Norwich softening its current stance later in the summer, with the player not really that highly valued given his low €3 million market value.
