Barcelona midfielder Pedri says he “knew” that Fermin Lopez would stay at the club this summer despite interest from Premier League big-spenders Chelsea.
The Blues were interested in signing Lopez and reportedly made a €40 million offer to Barcelona for the 22-year-old towards the end of the transfer window.
However, Lopez ended up deciding to stay at Barcelona and Pedri is happy to see his team-mate continue.
“Fermín recently told us he was staying; we’re very happy, I love him very much, and I knew
he was going to stay with us. He has a Blaugrana heart,” he told Onda Cero.
Pedri also spoke about new signing Joan Garcia and how impressed he has been by the club’s new stopper.
“Joan García is incredible. I’ve been really impressed by his propulsion and speed. He’s going to help us a lot because he’s a top goalkeeper,” he added.
The midfielder is now due to link up with Spain over the international break, while Joan Garcia will get a break after Luis de la Fuente opted not to hand him a maiden call-up.
