Juventus hadn’t won a Serie A fixture in well over a month. And as much as a lengthy international break played into it, it’s not like the way Juve had been playing of late warranted anything other than dropped points following their Sept. 20 victory over Atalanta prior to the break.
That month-plus without a win in Serie A is, thankfully, now a thing of the past.
Juventus won for their first time in Serie A in nearly a month and a half with Sunday night’s 2-0 victory over Lecce. It was not exactly
exciting. It was not exactly a crisp kind of performance — especially in the second half as Juve tried to hold off the clear momentum that Lecce had in front of their home crowd at the Via del Mare.
Juventus bent. Oh, they most certainly bent. But they didn’t break.
Thankfully they did — and got the three points that comes with it.
