The Missouri women will compete at the Illini Women’s Invitational, hosted by the University of Illinois, from Oct. 12–13.
The tournament is held at the historic Medinah Country Club, which is the only club in the world to have hosted a U.S. Open, a PGA Championship, a Ryder Cup and a Presidents Cup. It hosted the 2026 Presidents Cup about two weeks ago.
The course
They’ll play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday on the par-72 course No.
2, which was designed by famous architect Tom Bendelow. Course No. 2 is a different course from the one that has hosted the numerous professional tournaments.
The Tigers will have plenty of chances to shave off points – recent weather is causing the green to play firm and fast, and there are a couple of short par 4s that they can take advantage of. Once they get to the end, however, holes 16, 17 and 18 are designed to pack quite a punch and will make for a challenging finish.
The team
The Mizzou lineup includes seniors Addie Dobson, Melanie Walker and Fleur van Beek, junior Alexandra Berglund and sophomore Addie Surber.
Dobson has been on a tear this season, placing first and second in her first two appearances and tying her lowest 18-hole score twice. Walker has been right behind Dobson, taking second and fifth place in her last two tournaments.
Dobson and Walker are still competing with temporary eligibility granted by a temporary restraining order against the NCAA. The hearing that could have granted them permanent eligibility was pushed back from the original date of Oct. 8, and their temporary eligibility was extended as a result.
They’re both seeking a fifth year of eligibility under the NCAA’s five-year eligibility model, but unclear rules have made their eligibility uncertain. Following a lawsuit Dobson and Walker brought against the NCAA, a Boone County judge granted them a temporary restraining order, which requires the NCAA to allow them to compete until a final decision is made. The hearing that could grant them permanent eligibility is now scheduled for Oct. 21.
