What is the story about?
The Washington Wizards have assigned Will Riley to the Capital City Go-Go, the team announced Friday.
Riley, 19, was selected by Washington with the No. 21 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-9 forward played sparingly across the team’s first nine games, with most of his minutes coming in the second half.
But as Brian Keefe shortened his rotation, the rookie played just three minutes over Washington’s last three games. With
the Go-Go, Riley will get increased run as a starter, which will be key in his development.
This move was expected at some point this season. It is not an indictment on Riley’s play thus far — just an opportunity to give the young forward increased minutes to develop his game.
