Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in NFL fans and fans across the country.
With the NFL season having 17 games now, it is tough
to find an exact halfway point in the season. However, with the Seattle Seahawks having played seven games and now on a bye week, this week seems like a good time to consider the halfway point for Seattle. With that, when taking a big picture look at the team, most polled Seahawks fans are happy with the team’s direction.
An overwhelming 97% of polled Seahawks fans are confident the team is headed in the right direction. To get 97% of any population to agree on something is very difficult. So, for such a large majority of polled Seahawks fans to believe in the direction this team is going is definitely telling. Even more telling, is that the Seahawks went 10-7 last year, just missing out on the playoffs. The “right direction” in this case then would mean 97% of polled Seahawks fans believe the team is on the right path to make the playoffs and exceed that 10-win margin.
This overwhelming stamp of approval is also true testament to the job head coach Mike Macdonald has done. The pairing between Macdonald and general manager John Schneider seems to be working glowingly, as can be seen in the improvement of both the Seahawks offense and defense. The fans see this, too.
Starting with the offense, 74% of polled Seahawks fans rank the team’s offense at a “B” grade. Entering the 2025 season, the Seattle offense had many questions surrounding how Sam Darnold could replace Geno Smith, and whether the new receiving corps, led by Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, could replace Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Well, through the first few weeks it clearly looks like Seattle has improved on both fronts. The lack of an A grade likely stems to the underwhelming run game that the Seahawks have had. Time will tell how the offense will look entering the second half of the season.
As for the defense, 74% of polled Seahawks fans give them an “A” mark. This is not surprising at all either as the Seahawks defense (albeit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game as the major blemish) has looked dominant on all three levels, even despite the injuries in the secondary. Coach Macdonald’s expertise has truly shown in this defense, which currently ranks sixth in the NFL for points per game allowed, including first in the NFL for rushing yards per game allowed.
