AAA Noche de Los Grandes (May 30, 2026) opened with a new champion in Monterrey, Mexico. Rey Fenix dethroned Laredo Kid to win the cruiserweight title.
Fenix opened with fire to blitz offense at the bell. He tried to finish quick with a spinning Musclebuster, but Laredo was able to escape.
This was the rubber match in the series. Laredo won round two to retain
the title by pretending to fake a concussion. Laredo was in trouble early, so he tried to fake it again. Fenix wasn’t falling for it this time, but the minor delay still paid off. Fenix charged for a rolling cutter, and Laredo caught him to counter for a powerbomb.
Laredo wrestled with a nasty edge in his new heel turn. He took control to work the back and legs with cloverleaf submissions. Laredo connected on a wicked Destroyer DDT. Fenix kicked out, so Laredo went for a low blow. Fenix blocked the dirty deed. He rallied for a Musclebuster, but Laredo escaped to counter for a cradle pin. The action continued.
In round one, Fenix won the non-title bout after Laredo taunted him with Cero Miedo. In this bout, Laredo did that again. Fenix exploded for an uppercut and finally hit the Musclebuster. That played out exactly like in round one, except Laredo kicked out of the pin this time.
Earlier in the match, Laredo removed the turnbuckle pad. That played a role in the finish. After that last kick out, Fenix pointed to the turnbuckle to serve Laredo his just desserts. The referee blocked the path to keep the fight clean. Laredo took advantage for a low blow behind the ref’s back. He landed a frog splash. Fenix kicked out, and the crowd went wild. Laredo sized up a Stinger Splash. Fenix sidestepped, and Laredo crashed into the exposed steel from the turnbuckle. Fenix seized the moment with a spin kick and the Musclebuster to win.
Fenix becomes a two-time crusierweight champion in AAA, and Laredo’s reign ends at 539 days.
