Liz Carmouche and Dakota Ditcheva’s long-awaited fight will have to wait.
On Wednesday, the PFL announced that Carmouche will rematch Jena Bishop for the vacant PFL flyweight title at Wintrust Arena at PFL Chicago on Oct. 16.
After her win at PFL New York this summer, Dakota Ditcheva seemed the likely choice to fight Carmouche for the PFL title; however, Ditcheva broke both hands in her decision win over Denise Kielholtz, leaving her out of action for the time being.
“Originally, we had been planning for, expecting that if Dakota won in New York, which she did, she would be the legitimate title fight, probably against Liz, although we hadn’t decided that,” John Martin told Ariel Helwani. “But, of course, Dakota won, but unfortunately she fractured both of her hands. …
“I don’t want the title to wait.”
Instead, the PFL is going with a rematch of the 2025 PFL women’s flyweight tournament finals, which Carmouche won by third-round knockout. Since then, Carmouche went on to submit Viviane Araujo with a guillotine choke in June, while Bishop submitted Borena Tsertsvadze in April, and then submitted Ariane Lipski da Silva in June.
