The No. 11 Badgers returned star setter Charlie Fuerbringer to the lineup as they dominated the No. 18 Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday in a 3-0 sweep.
The win came after Wisconsin beat the No. 22 Minnesota Gophers
3-1 in the Border Battle on Wednesday, getting better as the match went on. They took the first set 25-20 and went up 2-0 with a 25-22 second set. After dropping the third set 25-18, the Badgers came back and easily won the fourth set 25-16 for the victory.
Mimi Colyer led the way with 21 kills in the win, while Una Vajagic added 11 of her own. It was a block party for the Badgers, though, as Alicia Andrew and Carter Booth each had three, with Colyer adding two as well.
Against the Hoosiers was the long-awaited return of Fuerbringer, whose availability was in question earlier in the season after a shoulder injury put her in a sling.
Wisconsin cruised past Indiana, winning 25-13, 25-14, 25-20 for an easy sweep of the No. 18-ranked Hoosiers. The Badgers hit .351, while limiting the Hoosiers to .113 by forcing 21 errors.
Colyer and Booth both reached double-digit kills, recording 14 and 11, respectively, while Fuerbringer had 28 assists in her return.
Things were relatively close in the first set, as Wisconsin was leading 16-12 at one point. But, they went on a 9-1 run to win the set at 25-13, giving them momentum at the Field House.
Wisconsin then cruised by the second set, never really feeling any trouble. Then, in the third set, the Badgers faced some early resistance, leading 11-9 early. After a 6-2 run by Wisconsin, the Hoosiers fought back to bring things within three. But, the Badgers still finished things off at 25-20, getting a big sweep against a ranked opponent.
Wisconsin stayed at No. 11 in the Top 25 despite the two wins, as the Top 19 remained completely intact this week. The Badgers continue forward on Friday in East Lansing when they face the Michigan State Spartans. Then, they travel to Champaign for a back-to-back against the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday.
