The pairing of Damian Priest and R-Truth always felt temporary, a play on their prior comedy bits within The Judgment Day. It gave them something to do on Friday Night SmackDown, where they were even tag team champions at one point! Once they lost those titles, it seemed clear they were going to split up.
And then they didn’t.
Instead, Truth kept them together getting bookings for the AAA tag team titles. WWE did some obvious teasing of a break up and then finally followed through with it on this week’s
episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Mexico City after the two lost to The War Raiders:
This was always coming but the way they went about it made it feel more like Priest just trying to get away to do his own thing than it did an actual heel turn on a beloved babyface character. Truth is objectively that but I don’t know, this just felt a little too cut and dried.
Just me?
