Gameweek 16 didn’t go as planned, as several of my predictions failed to deliver. In goal, Emiliano Martínez was expected to start but didn’t feature, which meant Petrovic was subbed in.
Unfortunately,
he endured a tough outing, conceding four goals against Manchester United and finishing the week with just 1 point.
The defense was particularly disappointing. Arsenal’s failure to keep a clean sheet against bottom-of-the-table Wolves was a major shock.
On a more positive note, Manchester City secured a convincing win and a clean sheet against Crystal Palace, allowing O’Reilly to collect 6 points. Guehi, however, managed just 1 point despite playing in the same fixture.
After seven straight blank gameweeks, my faith in Semenyo finally paid off as he found the net against Manchester United.
Foden also delivered a solid return against Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, the rest of my midfield struggled—Rice, Bruno Guimarães, and Dewsbury-Hall (KDH) all failed to make an impact and returned minimal points.
Haaland once again proved his value, producing 13 points with another strong performance. On the other hand, Igor Thiago was unable to capitalize on his 90 minutes against Leeds, finishing the gameweek with just 2 points.
Gameweek 17 Preview
Heading into Gameweek 17, I’m hoping Martínez will be fit and ready to reclaim his place in goal. I’ve brought in Wilson, who has been in fine form and faces Nottingham Forest, to replace the injured Dewsbury-Hall.
Haaland retains the captain’s armband for GW17, and I’ll be setting up in a 3-5-2 formation. Calafiori, Marc Guiu, and Livramento will all be benched for this round.
Let’s see if Gameweek 17 brings better fortune and a return to consistent points.
I will be in the comments to see what your team also looks like.
