A win is a win. Notre Dame football finished Week 6 of the 2025-25 season with a decisive 28-7 victory over Boise State. That puts the Irish over to the right side of 0.50, with a 3-2 record. While it’s
a pretty win from the in the overall sense, it was far from a clean game for the team.
They were 4-9 on third down conversions, 0-2 on fourth down conversions and tallied up 11 penalties for a grand total of 112 yards.
Now more stats from the game.
Scoring Context
Notre Dame came back down to the ground after a pretty strong scoring spree in previous games. Their 28 points against Boise State was the second lowest total this season, with the low being 28 points in the Miami (FL) season opener. But the defense helped out with a much better outing this game. The differential, +21, still kept with the recent trend largely because Notre Dame held Boise State to a season low of seven points.

Total Offense Context
The Irish’s total offensive stats look pretty close to the Miami (FL) game. This weekend the Irish recorded 389 yards of total offense and averaged 7.2 yards per play. Even though the overall output was down a tick, the offense continued to be very efficient. If you blot out their contributions to the team’s overall penalty situation and other non-quant mishaps.

Passing Context
ND’s passing attack produced a season low of 189 yards. The team completed 15 of its 23 pass attempts for a 65% completion rate. Those efforts still produced an average of 8.2 yards per attempt and two touchdowns through the air. It wasn’t the greatest of performances but all is well that ends well.

The Receivers
Jordan Faison, Malachi Fields and Will Pauling contributed the most for Notre Dame on the receiving front. Faison finished with six catches for 83 yards and an average of 13.8 yards per catch. He hasn’t made it to the end zone much this season but Faison is playing a major role in marching the team down the field. Malachi Fields recorded four catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. Will Pauling came through in some clutch moments and pulled down two catches for 43 yards and one touchdown.

Rushing Context
Notre Dame’s utilization of the ground game was the second lowest of the season only in front of the Miami (FL) game. They had 31 rush attempts. But what they got for their efforts was markedly better. The team finished the game with 200 yards on the ground, 6.5 yards per carry and two rushing touchdowns.

The Rushers
Jeremiyah Love had another solid rushing game. Love finished the Boise state game with 16 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown. Jadarian Price was RB2 in terms of production. He logged eight carries for 83 yards and one touchdown. The duo continues to be a two-prong menace for opponents and I for one enjoy it a lot.

Defense: Passing Context
The Irish defense got thrown on a lot but held up pretty solidly. The Bronco’s completed 22 of their 37 attempts for 37 yards, a 59% completion rate. Opponents’ QBR have been trending downwards and this was the worst job an opposing QB did so far in 2025-26 season.

Defense: Rushing Context
Notre Dame held Boise State to 100 rushing yards and only 2.9 yards per carry. A solid performance.

Defense: Impactful
The Irish defense finished Week 6 with four sacks, four tackles for loss and two pass deflections. The linebackers were responsible for most of the game’s defensive impact plays. Jaiden Ausberry, Drayk Bowen and Jaylen Sneed all finished with one sack and one tackle for loss. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa tallied up 0.5 sacks and 0.5 tackles for loss as well as one pass deflection.

Final Thoughts
Notre Dame got done what it needed to get done against Boise State, when though they seemed determined to make the officiating staff earn their per diem. And given the rest of the chaos going on around college football, I’ll take it.
