Fans of the Netflix show Physical 100 will have more combat sports athletes to cheer on when the South Korean show returns for season 3 pitting countries from across Asia against each other.
Titled Physical Asia, the show will feature teams of six from eight different countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand and Turkey. While season 1 kicked off the UFC tie-in with South Korean star and former MMA fighter Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama, this season has a lot
of names familiar to fans.
Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will represent Australia, while former middleweight contender Yushin Okami will represent Japan. “Stun Gun” Dong Hyun Kim is representing Korea.
From other combat sports, boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will represent Team Philippines while Muay Thai world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn represents Thailand.
As with past seasons, teams are made up of a large variety of different athletes. Whittaker’s Team Australia has a strongman, rugby player, fitness coach, parkour specialist, and Hydrox competitor. Yushin Okami’s Team Japan has a baseball player, judoka, national wrestler, swimmer, and Bellator / PFL MMA veteran Kana Watanabe.
Physical 100 is known for its grueling head-to-head competitions, but it’s unclear if the team leaders will participate or if they’re just there to offer motivation to their nation’s competitors. We’ll find out more when the show makes its Netflix debut in October.
