Former Tennessee receiver Jauan Jennings is headed north this season, set to play for the Minnesota Vikings after a lengthy stay on the free agent open market. The former San Fransisco 49er now lands with another contender, set to catch passes from Kyler Murray while playing alongside of Justin Jefferson.
Jennings
has done just about exactly what you would expect since entering the league. He was never going to light it up with stats, but he’s made key play after key play for the 49ers over the past several seasons. The former seventh round pick had his best season in 2024, catching 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Jennings went on to score nine times this past season, operating as a primary target for Brock Purdy and Mac Jones as San Fransisco dealt with several injuries.
The former high school quarterback has made his mark in the NFL postseason as well, completing passes on trick plays for a couple of passing touchdowns. Fact — Jennings has the most postseason touchdown passes by a non-quarterback since the NFL merger.
Jennings, a beloved figured in Knoxville, gets a one-year deal worth up to $13 million in Minnesota. Playing in one of the worst offensive eras at Tennessee, Jennings fought his way to a near 1,000 yard season in 2019. The 6-3, 212 pound receiver caught eight touchdowns in that final year, pushing his way to being drafted.
He also really, really hates Vanderbilt, which we all can always appreciate.
