Next up for Chelsea is the quarterfinals of the League Cup, wherein we’ll be facing the only lower-league side left in the competition, third division outfit Cardiff City.
That sounds easy on paper, but
we are away and The Bluebirds are leading their division, so confidence will not be in short order for them. For us, meanwhile, you just never know which Chelsea will show up.
Enzo Maresca has warned against complacency, which is always a primary worry in these cases. The best way to combat that is often through rotation, though for us, rotation has often meant a severe drop in the level of performance on the pitch and the quality of the result on the scoreboard. With Maresca under pressure following the recent winless run, he certainly cannot afford a shock exit here.
While we don’t have any new injuries, the likes of Cole Palmer and Wesley Fofana are likely to be rested in any case.
