All four remaining teams left play tonight but it could be the final time this season as the Los Angeles Dodgers could clinch their series with a win tonight, which would be a sweep of the NL’s #1 seeded Milwaukee Brewers. Meanwhile in the AL the Blue Jays have fought back on unfriendly turf to come back and tie their series, ensuring that Toronto will host at least one more game this season. The Mariners could be playing their final home game of the season if they can’t put away these Blue Jays.
First up will be that Blue Jays versus Mariners in Game 5. The Blue Jays did exactly what they needed to do and won two games in Seattle to even the series. Now they’ll get a chance to take the lead tonight if they can pull it out. They’ll be going with staff ace Kevin Gausman tonight, hoping the veteran righty can provide more of the same as he did in Game 1 when he pitched into the sixth and allowed just a pair of runs.
Toronto’s lineup for the critical Game 5 breaks down like this:
The Mariners meanwhile will turn to third-year righty Bryce Miller hoping the young pitcher can play stopper after two home losses. Overall it was a tough season for Miller, who struggled through injuries and ineffectiveness for most of the regular season. He’s been much better this October however, starting two games and allowing just three runs over 10 1/3 frames. He was especially sharp last time out against these same Jays, pitching six full innings and allowing just one earned run.
Seattle’s lineup tonight:
The second series tonight will see the Dodgers go for the four-game sweep over the Brewers. Not many fans expected this as everyone thought that Milwaukee would at least put up a decent fight against the star-studded reigning champions. Instead the Brewers let Game 1 slip away and the series has only gone downhill for them from there. The Dodgers will entrust superstar Shohei Ohtani with the ball tonight hoping baseball’s biggest star can be the one to punch LA’s ticket to the Fall Classic.
The LA lineup for the potential series-clinching game:
The Brewers are on critical life support. They’re facing a deficit only one team has ever overcome and the Brew Crew have not shown much sign of life playing the juggernaut Dodgers. And we don’t know the status of young outfielder Jackson Chorio, who departed last night’s loss due to a lower leg injury. Even if Chorio returns the clock is about to strike midnight on Milwaukee’s fun season. They’ll turn to veteran lefty Jose Quintana to get them one more day alive.
One series looks like it’s ready to wrap up, and the other looks like it could end up going the distance. Who ya got tonight? Predictions below!
