Florida State offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. and defensive coordinator Tony White spoke on Wednesday, recapping FSU’s scrimmage.
Harris Jr. focused on communication and tempo, saying the offense’s install has to move faster than most because of the volume FSU’s defense throws at it in practice. He said Ashton Daniels’ confidence has grown daily and that he handled pre-snap adjustments flawlessly in Tuesday’s scrimmage, with Kevin and Dean also getting positive reviews. Harris pointed
to yards after contact as a season-long emphasis for the running backs, also noting Tre Wisner was held out of the scrimmage with a minor issue. He also said Tuesday marked the first true dry run of game-day operation (press box staffed, sideline communication and iPads used as they would be in a game) and called it clean.
White said he left the scrimmage angry but changed his mind after watching the film, calling the sideline operation better than nearly any point last season and the tackling cleaner than a typical first scrimmage. He described a disruptive defensive line with a couple of sacks and roughly 10 tackles for loss, and credited the group’s offseason work for turning thinking into instinct. He also said the remaining camp work shifts to situational football, and named conditioning as the one thing that still has to improve
The Seminoles are now in Jacksonville for their annual Duval excursion, holding three practices at UNF from Wednesday to Saturday.

The hires of Emmanuel Dixon (assistant coach for men’s sprints) and Jerel Langley (assistant jumps coach) were announced on Wednesday by FSU director of track and field Matt Kane:
Dixon comes to Florida State after serving as an associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Barton Community College. During his five seasons at Barton (2021-26), Dixon played a key role in guiding Barton to NJCAA Indoor National Championships in 2024 and 2026 while overseeing training for the sprints, hurdles and middle-distance groups.
Under the leadership of Dixon, Barton produced 24 NJCAA individual national championships, 19 national runner-up finishes and 243 All-America performances. The program also claimed 47 Region VI championships, 45 Region VI runner-up finishes, set two school records, recorded 46 additions to the program’s all-time top performances list, and produced a Canadian U-20 national record in the 200 meters. His impact was recognized nationally, earning NJCAA Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2026, NJCAA Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024, four Central Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year awards (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026), and Central Region Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year recognition in 2026.
Prior to Barton, Dixon served as an assistant coach at Indian Hills Community College from 2019-2021. During his tenure, Indian Hills athletes recorded 16 NJCAA All-America performances, produced 17 national qualifiers and captured three NJCAA Region XI championships and five runner-up finishes. Dixon also helped guide the program to 52 school records, highlighting the sustained growth and success of the Warriors during his time on staff.
Dixon served as an assistant coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State University from 2017 to 2019. During his two seasons, Dixon’s athletes achieved 17 All-Conference placings including conference champions in the sprints, high jump, throws, and pole vault while also seeing 20 school records broken under his guidance.
A native of Mankato, Minnesota, Dixon began his coaching career in 2016 at Mankato East High School for a season before serving his internship at Mankato State University-Mankato in the strength and conditioning program, as well as a volunteer coach with the track and field program. Following graduation Dixon became the assistant varsity sprint coach at Minnetonka High School before moving up to the college ranks at SWOSU.
Obtaining his bachelor degree in exercise science from MSU-Mankato in 2016, Dixon went on to earn his Master’s degree in Sports Management from SWOSU in 2019.
Langley will oversee the jumps and multi-events, joining the Seminoles after spending the last nine seasons at the University of Oklahoma. In eight years at OU, his athletes achieved two national titles, 17 NCAA First Team All-America honors, 10 Second Team All-America honors, six honorable mention honors, two indoor All-America distinctions in 2020, 16 individual conference championships and 10 school records.
Langley mentored Vernon Turner to a 2024 Paris Olympics appearance, a national championship, six First Team All-America honors, two school records and the No. 4 high jump in the NCAA All-Time indoors and the No. 1 jump in NCAA history for a freshman.
Pippi Lotta Enok claimed her first national title in the heptathlon during the 2023 season. She set a school record of 6,165 which sits as the 17th-best performance in NCAA history. That summer, Langley had the opportunity to coach Enok to a bronze medal in the heptathlon for her native country, Estonia, at the European U23 Championships.
Three of his athletes have been named Big 12 Freshman of the Year: Turner in 2018, Lavinja Jurgens in 2020 indoors and Olivia Lueking in 2022 outdoors. During the 2022 indoor season, Turner and Lueking were named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Field Athletes of the Year. His men’s high jump group claimed the 2022 No. 1 event squad ranking at the conclusion of the outdoor season.
Seven student-athletes claimed 16 Big 12 titles, including Turner (high jump x5), Lueking (pole vault x3), Kristo Simulask (heptathlon x2, decathlon x2), Jurgens (high jump), Bryce Douglas (60-meter hurdles), Enok (pentathlon) and Sydney King (PV). His athletes have also excelled in the classroom, collecting 21 USTFCCCA All-Academic honors and 39 Big 12 First-Team and six Second-Team All-Academic honors. Everette Favor was also named the 2017 Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year while also making an appearance in his first national championship in the pole vault. Langley has coached 34 NCAA West Prelim qualifiers in events ranging from the pole vault, high jump, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, long jump and javelin. He also serves as recruiting coordinator and helped bring together a 2017 Men’s recruiting class that was ranked No. 8 in the country by Track and Field News.
Prior to Oklahoma, Langley was an assistant coach at Miami for three years, earning eight All-America honors, including four in women’s pole vault. While at Miami and previously at Eastern Michigan, Langley mentored 2016 Olympian in the women’s pole vault, Alysha Newman. Newman’s achievements included four Canadian national records (indoor, outdoor, junior and senior), five time All-America honors, ACC outdoor record holder, Pan-Am junior champion and record holder and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist.
Langley worked with the women’s throws, pole vault and combined events at Eastern Michigan. He began his career as a graduate assistant at Kennesaw State, where he earned his Master’s degree in applied exercise and health science.
Florida State volleyball will appear on the ACC Network three times this season:
ACC Network will carry FSU’s home games against Auburn on September 8, Florida on September 18 and Miami on September 23.
FSU’s home opener against Auburn is part of the ‘Showdown at the Net’ that features the ACC vs. the SEC. The Seminoles defeated Auburn in four sets last year inside Tully Gym. First serve for the Seminoles and Tigers is set for 7 p.m.
The Gators will return to Tully for the first time since 2023 as the rivalry will be renewed after a one-year hiatus. First serve is set for 7 p.m. on the ACC Network on September 18. The Noles will be looking for its first win over Florida since 2021.
Following its match with Florida, the Noles will stay in Tully for another rivalry match against Miami on September 23 at 7 p.m. on the ACC Network. FSU dropped two five-set thrillers last season to Miami but won the previous six matches against the Hurricanes.

FSU will open its regular season on August 28-30 at the FGCU Invitational where they will face BYU, VCU and FGCU.
Florida State men’s golf earned the 2025-26 PLATFORM Golf Team Award, recognizing the team’s academic excellence:
To be eligible for the award, teams must turn in a 3.0 GPA or higher. A GCAA record 331 schools across six divisions earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award. The Seminoles recorded a team grade point average of 3.332 for 2025-26 after setting a program record of 3.436 in the spring.
Announced on Monday, Florida State was one of 81 NCAA Division I programs to have at least four student-athletes recognized as Cobalt Golf Scholar All-Americans behind Tyler Weaver, Jack Whaley, Wilmer Edero and Andrew McLauchlan.
Weaver was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third season and was named CSC Academic All-District. Whaley was also named All-District.
Edero and Carson Brewer joined Weaver on the All-ACC Academic team, while Weaver, Whaley, Edero, Brewer, Drew Jones and Shawn Coultoff were named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
