As Kentucky Basketball continues to wait on Milan Momcilovic, the Louisville Cardinals continue to make their own push for the Iowa State transfer, while Arizona is lurking as a dark horse as well.
According to KSR’s Matt Jones, Louisville held a Zoom meeting with Momcilovic on Friday. Jones also says it appears Louisville and Arizona have a lower offer on the table for Momcilovic than Kentucky does.
In addition, Mike Rutherford of SB Nation and Card Chronicle gave an update during his show on Friday
(around 2:15:30 mark), saying that, while the Cards’ Zoom meeting went well, they still feel like it would be an upset if they manage to land Momcilovic. They also expect a decision to come before Sunday night.
While it’s unclear exactly how much each school is offering, Jack Pilgrim and Jacob Polacheck have reported that Kentucky’s offer is believed to have grown to around $7.5 million. Adam Zagoria’s sources previously said Momcilovic’s NIL value was in the $5-6 million range and that a decision on his next school would likely come this weekend. It’s fair to think that Louisville jumping into the mix has forced Kentucky to raise its offer.
While Kentucky had hoped to have this wrapped up by now, Louisville is doing its best to keep this recruitment dragging on, with Arizona running in third place, and no other schools being considered.
So, for the time being, don’t expect a decision to be announced until Saturday or Sunday.
