The best college football games of Week 7, plus, how to keep up with conference realignment. ALSO AN OPEN THREAD FOR RUTGERS-WASHINGTON! Read down.
Once again, this article’s a day and a half late. You
didn’t notice, don’t care, and aren’t reading it anyway, but I’m still sorry. There was just a lot to get through as I prepped materials for this week, and I got behind.
Was it the fact that I’ve just bitten off more than I can chew right now, with book proofs to edit and teaching four classes with a punishing commute? Nah.
Was it that I left work go to the last minute on Thursday, a day when I already woke up at 3am, took two work calls before 8am, taught three classes back-to-back-to-back, and then drove another hour and a half to a meeting at a historical society in a town of fewer than 500 people? Nope.
Was it that the joy of writing this article is largely gone and I’m too proud to just land the plane and let it die?

…let’s say…no?
No, reader, it’s that I cannot for the life of me keep straight the C-USA, AAC, and Sun Belt games that were on TV. It is asking far too much of my pea-sized brain to have, all at once in the quad box, Southern Miss-Georgia State (Sun Belt?), Jacksonville State-Sam Houston (…C-USA?), and East Carolina-Tulane (AAC?). And don’t even get me started on the Pac-12 and the Mountain West!

Tonight’s Oktoberfest in our house. We’ve got six assorted Oktoberfest beers, some kaesespaetzle, and I’m about to fry up pork schnitzel. The girls will be in bed by 7:30, Mrs. MNW is insisting on a bonfire that she’ll only stick out until 9pm, and then I’ll watch…well, probably Fresno-Colorado State.
Here’s what Oktoberfest looked like five years ago:

Time is a son of a bitch, man.
