Obviously Cooper Flagg is off to a great start with the Dallas Mavericks, but in Charlotte, his former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel is also doing well.
He’s made an impression on his coach, Charles Lee, who said this about his progress: “I think Kon has done a great job of finding his way, learning things, picking things up (and) understanding his spots. He feeds really well off the group. I think having some really good players around him and guys that want to, obviously, support him and see him be
as good as he possibly can, helps. I think he is a darn good player himself. (He) wants to impact winning and find ways to add to the group. That is his impact out there. That is his focus is to add value to the group.”
Still, it’s just four games into the preseason.
Well, four when Lee said that. It’s five after Charlotte’s loss to New York. And while the Hornets didn’t win, Knueppel played pretty well.
The rook started, finishing with 12 points in 24 minutes. He shot 5-12 overall (just 1-7 from behind the line though) and also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
