One of the few bright spots on the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense last season was cornerback DJ Turner.
The front office went out and added a lot of talent to make Turner’s job easier, and one of those new additions is really impressed with what he’s seen so far in training camp.
“He’s probably the fastest guy I’ve ever played with,” free agent signing Jonathan Allen told Dan Hoard. “And you see him paying attention to the little things. As you get more experience in this league, you pay attention to the little nuances,
and the better you get at that, the better you get at football.”
That’s pretty high praise from a guy who played with Isaiah Rodgers (4.28 seconds in the 40 yard dash) in Minnesota last year and Marlon Humphrey (4.41 seconds) at Alabama.
As Hoard pointed out above, Turner managed to defend 18 passes last year, despite the struggles on defense. One can only imagine how much better he’ll look with a massively overhauled defensive line forcing quarterbacks to get rid of the ball earlier.
