It’s week 8 of the NFL season and the New York Jets are on the road in Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT.
The Jets have opened the 2025 season with seven straight losses. The defense was horrendous in the early part of the season, but it has been much improved of late. The Jets offense started the season hot against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it has gradually devolved into an unwatchable mess, thanks to a practice squad level wide receiver
group behind Garrett Wilson and quarterback Justin Fields, who has gotten progressively worse as the season wears on. It has gotten so bad with Fields that he was benched for the second half of last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers. The Jets village idiot owner Woody Johnson proceeded to trash Fields in an interview, and it was widely assumed the Jets would be making a change at starting quarterback to Tyrod Taylor, beginning this Sunday. However, Taylor’s surgically repaired knee started acting up, and he was eventually declared out for the game. We are now back to the struggling Fields taking the field at quarterback for the Jets, without his top two receivers on the season in Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds, both of whom are out with injuries. Sauce Gardner is also out with an injury, leaving the Jets depleted secondary to contend with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and company. Good luck with that.
The Bengals come into this game with a 3-4 record. They are coming off a big win last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers after having lost the prior four games. The Bengals are a really bad team on paper. They rank 31st in the NFL in yards gained and 31st in yards allowed. They rank 27th in rushing yards allowed, 30th in passing yards allowed, 31st in touchdown passes allowed, and dead last in net yards passing per attempt. If ever there was an opponent to get the anemic Jets offense healthy for a week, this is it. We’ll see if the Jets’ motley crew of offensive non-weapons can take advantage today.
It’s the New York Jets seeking their first victory of the 2025 season against the Cincinnati Bengals today. Enjoy the game everyone.
