The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers seem quite comfortable with one another.
On Saturday evening the teams made a trade which marked a second straight year and season where this was the case. If Broderick Jones has even 10% of the impact on the Cowboys that the former Steeler George Pickens did, then things are going to work out rather nicely.
Let me say right now that what we are doing is not meant to be taken in a literal or supremely serious way. Sometimes coincidences happen and therefore
things can be looked at through unique prisms and that is what we are about to do here today.
Net results from the Pickens and Jones trades
Obviously the Cowboys and Steelers did not agree to one composite trade included George Pickens and Broderick Jones; however, the two trades are interestingly tied together by a particular detail in a way that multiple trades between two teams usually are not.
With the Broderick trade now completed here are the net results on each side.
Cowboys received:
- George Pickens (Trade 1)
- Broderick Jones (Trade 2)
- 2027 4th (Trade 2)
Steelers received:
- 2026 3rd (Trade 1)
- 2027 3rd (Trade 2)
- 2027 5th (Trade 1)
There is one final thing that each team received, but as noted the interesting thing is that they each received it.
During Trade 1 (the Pickens deal) the Steelers sent their 2027 sixth-round pick to the Cowboys. It was a swap as they received Dallas’ 2027 fifth.
Trade 2 (the Broderick deal) saw Dallas send that exact same pick back to where it originally started. Again, not every set of trades between teams involves a take-back like that.
Once again, this is simply a fun way to look at these two trades because they involved the same two teams. The George Pickens factor makes it hard for the Cowboys to not be viewed as the winners, but obviously that was not a detail that was associated with the most recent deal.
