The plan of the Las Vegas Raiders heading into the 2025 NFL regular season is to fully unleash rookie running back Ashton Jeanty in all facets of the offense.
That means the No. 6 overall draft pick will get a chance to make an impact in the receiving game as well as the running game on a weekly basis. Jeanty has nice hands and showed of his receiving chops in training camp. He had 80 career catches for 862 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons at Boise State.
So, expect the Raiders to look him
explore that part of his game. Thus, the Raiders can help change an NFL trend. According to the Associated Press, NFL teams averaged 4.3 receptions a game by running backs last season. It was the lowest average in the modern era.
Actually, the Raiders, led by a different regime, were above the league in this area last season. Their running backs averaged catches 5.2 passes a game, nearly a full reception above the league average. With Jeanty that number could increase.
