Last week, Spurs CEO R. C. Buford stated that 8-10 members of the Spurs roster were joining Victor Wembanyama in Paris to work out. A few of the photos released on social media show Kelly Olynyk as part of the squad.
Olynyk was acquired by the Spurs last summer in exchange for Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley, and a 2026 second-round draft pick. Although he played sparingly during the season, Olynyk offered a vet presence to the chemistry of the fledgling core.
Since free agency began, there have been no official reports of Olynyk signing for the 2026-2027 season. In the meantime, it seems he has continued to bond with the members of the Silver & Black. He is in the photo of the team at the Louvre seated in front of the Mona Lisa.
If Olynyk signs a contract, this will be his fourteenth NBA season. At 35, he might not be quite ready to hang it up. He could also be scouting a post-playing career. The Spurs have helped many players transition into coaching, front office, and scouting by utilizing their off court basketball talents. Only time will tell where Olynyk will be come October.
For now, he’s in Paris with a group of guys ready to make another Finals run.
On an unrelated note, happy belated birthday to Tarris Reed, Jr. who celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday. His first since being drafted by the Spurs.
