What is the story about?
Wednesday
marked the seventeenth and final Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Here’s what I observed down at the Jefferson Health Training Complex!
EAGLES PRACTICE NOTES
- The final practice of camp was a lighter one. No pads.
- EAGLES INJURY REPORT:
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- TE Eli Stowers (hamstring)
- OT Markel Bell (thumb/leg)
- TE Grant Calcaterra (back)
- CB Jakorian Bennett (knee)
- S Cole Wisniewski (concussion)
- LIMITED PARTICIPATION:
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
- Jones was upgraded to limited after missing a big portion of training camp.
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
- REMOVED FROM THE INJURY REPORT:
- OG Landon Dickerson (not injury related/rest) returned to practice after missing Tuesday night.
- Dickerson did look to be lumbering off the field after a rep in team drills while Drew Kendall came in for the next play. I don’t think Dickerson got newly injured as much as he’s just physically diminished to some extent. No one can question his toughness but I’m not feeling amazing about his chances of bouncing back to his Pro Bowl form.
- CB Mac McWilliams (shoulder) was upgraded from limited to full go.
- OT Lane Johnson, DT Jordan Davis, and TE E.J. Jenkins appeared to get banged up on Tuesday night but they were not listed on Wednesday’s injury report. Good to see.
- OG Landon Dickerson (not injury related/rest) returned to practice after missing Tuesday night.
- IN-PRACTICE INJURY (?)
- OG Willie Lampkin returned to practice on Tuesday after missing Monday with a stinger. Doesn’t seem like he’s 100%.
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- JALEN HURTS UPDATE:
- 7-on-7 red zone: A Hurts pass to DeVonta Smith on a curl route was broken up by Riq Woolen. Hurts sailed a pass to Dallas Goedert up the seam high and out of the back of the end zone. Hurts hit DeVonta over the middle for a touchdown. Hurts looked to Darius Cooper as a late read and threw high of him with Woolen smothering the receiver anyway to prevent any kind of jump ball opportunity.
- 11-on-11: Hurts had a couple good short completions to DeVonta and Hollywood Brown. He threw a pass towards the end zone into traffic that got knocked down by Quinyon Mitchell (Jihaad Campbell may have also tipped it first). Hurts overthrew DeVonta in the end zone. The passing offense as a whole looked out of sync at times. Hurts threw a pass to a crossing Johnny Mundt where the timing wasn’t there.
- BACKUP QUARTERBACK COMPETITION UPDATE:
- Tanner McKee has been doing a good deal of dink and dunk this summer and Wednesday was no different. There were a lot of short completions before he capped off a drive with a touchdown throw to Tank Bigsby, who got open as McKee rolled to the right. Seemed like McKee should’ve found him streaking open sooner but the result was ultimately good. McKee was slightly off target on some throws to Brandon Hayes (who was released on Thursday morning) before finishing camp with a touchdown pass to Erik Ezukanma to beat Shaun Wade in coverage.
- Andy Dalton had the most flashy completion of the day when he hit a crossing Stone Smartt in stride to beat really tight coverage from Michael Carter II. Dalton did throw a touchdown to Quez Watkins but it looked like Ty Robinson was in position to sack the quarterback from the interior.
- If practice is any indication, the Eagles are going to try to manufacture Lemon touches in this offense. They have yet to prove fruitful. But I expect the effort to get him involved early and often will be there.
- There was a rep on Wednesday where the Eagles only had 1o players on the field for offense. Lemon didn’t realize he was supposed to be out there and had to be called over by his teammates.
- The Eagles did some pre-practice and post-practice walkthrough periods that looked like the team preparing for Friday night’s game. Lemon took part in those, so, it’s looking like he might play (at least for a little bit) against the Cincinnati Bengals. McKee was also first up at quarterback in those periods with Dalton following him.
- Star of the summer Jalyx Hunt easily beat a Johnny Mundt block to be in position for a TFL on Saquon Barkley.
- Cam Latu had a really bad drop.
- Darius Cooper failed to make a grab on a Dalton ball that was thrown a bit high of him. It seemed like Andre’ Sam may have gotten a hand in there to break up the pass and tip it into the air for a Michael Carter II interception.
- Elijah Moore failed to make a contested grab while being covered by Ambry Thomas.
- Dameon Pierce has had some nice runs and a good catch since returning to practice. He’s missed too much time to make the roster but it could be good to keep him around on the practice squad.
- Shaun Wade got beat multiple times and also got called for defensive holding in the end zone.
- It’s been a very quiet offseason for the Eagles’ final pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Keyshawn James-Newby. He’s missed a lot of time due to injury. But KJN flashed on Wednesday by being in position for a strip-sack on Dalton after beating Myles Hinton around the edge.
- Hinton’s stock is way down. Has not had a good summer.
- The Eagles ran a special teams scenario where Jake Elliott was lined up for a 60-yard kick and the field goal block unit was prepared for a return, with Will Shipley lined up deep in case of a miss that fell short. The ball was snapped but Elliott did not attempt a kick, with Braden Mann instead standing up from his holding position and chucking the ball downfield to Shipley. Kinda weird. Mann’s got a good arm, by the way.
- Training camp is over! Thanks for following along with our daily coverage here at BGN. If you’re new, we hope you stick around! If you’re not new, thanks for your continued support!
- Sorry for the delay in getting these notes published. I had to run around and get some things done prior to attending PHLY’s The Ospreys award show last night, where it was announced I’ll be joining their game day coverage programming this season! Excited to be doing Eagles pregame/postgame shows as part of their team.
