Draft season has now ended and that can mean only one thing – 2027 mock drafts! That’s right, if you thought you were done with mock drafts, think again. We’re already looking to the next draft even though it may be hard to top the one that just went past.
Seriously, it feels like the Cowboys really nailed the 2026 draft, headlined by the Caleb Downs pick. The Cowboys also picked up Malachi Lawrence with their second first-round pick, courtesy of the Micah Parsons trade. The Cowboys will only have
one first-round pick in 2027 because they traded the Jets the other one in the Quinnen Williams deal. The Jets get the better of either Dallas’ or Green Bay’s pick.
SB Nation has a 2027 mock out today and they have the Cowboys giving the 16th pick to the Jets, and keeping the 19th pick courtesy of the Packers. And here is where they went with it.

It’s extremely hard to understand why Dallas would even consider doing that. Javonte Williams just gave them a very productive season, and they re-signed him for three years with two basically guaranteed. The Cowboys loved everything Williams did for them last year. Barring injury, it’s hard to imagine Williams not having a significant role in the Cowboys offense over the next couple of years.
You could make a case for a wide receiver if Dallas never comes to a deal with George Pickens and he leaves either through free agency or trade. The cornerback situation has a lot of bodies but nothing feels like a sure thing there yet, so it could end up being an issue. Offensive tackle could also be a weakness before the 2027 draft.
Running back? Not so much, and that comes with the whole positional value argument attached. What do you think will be the Cowboys biggest need by then?
