What is the story about?

The New York Jets are at home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in the Jets’ eighth game of the 2026 season this Sunday. The Jets will be looking to get back on the winning track after dropping five of their last six games.

These two teams last met in a 16 – 12 Raiders victory in 2023. The Raiders have won four of the last five games between these two teams. Prior to that the Jets had won six of eight. The Raiders lead the overall series 27 – 20 – 2.

The Raiders opened

the 2026 season with a bang, reeling off three straight victories against weak opponents in the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints. After that easy opening stretch the schedule got much tougher. Games against the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams all ended in defeat for the Raiders. The Raiders are now riding a four game losing streak coming into this game. Both teams are looking to bounce back against a struggling opponent. Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets need a home win here badly.

Let’s make a few predictions for the game on Sunday.

Brock Bowers rumbles for 100+ yards from scrimmage and 1+ touchdowns.
The Jets defense fails to get much pressure on Kirk Cousins, and he responds with 280+ passing yards and 2+ touchdowns.
After Ashton Jeanty ripped the Jets this week, the Jets defense responds by holding Jeanty under 40 yards rushing.
Garrett Wilson racks up 100+ receiving yards and 1+ touchdowns.
Braelon Allen runs for 100+ yards and 1+ touchdowns.
The Jets rediscover Kenyon Sadiq is on the team. Sadiq leads all Jets tight ends in targets, receptions and yards from scrimmage.
The Jets come to the stunning realization that scoring in the last two minutes is allowed. They squeak out a win with a closing score in the fourth quarter.
